FreeBSD 5.3 has been released!
This release marks a milestone in the FreeBSD 5.x series and the
beginning of the 5-STABLE branch of releases. For a complete list of

Netcraft reports,
that FreeBSD is often overlooked when people discuss the relative
success of the rival operating system platforms in use on the Internet.
However, it has a secured a strong foothold within the hosting
community and continues to grow, gaining over a million hostnames and
half a million active sites since July 2003.

This is another step towards 5-STABLE. Many improvements in this
release, including ATA and networking enhancements. This is also the
first stable release with AMD64 support. See the official announcement for more information.
Apparently, all the top five
of hosting providers with the best uptimes and least failures run
FreeBSD, which Netcraft considers "intriguing." But it's obviously not
intriguing that Netcraft also runs FreeBSD.

Grab it from one of the FTP mirrors, or buy a CDROM from a vendor who
