ps3ps3.pngOn the bright side, it's got a 120 GB hard drive, it's 32% smaller, 36% lighter and has 34% less power consumption. It's cheaper too. However, apart from all that .. it still looks ugly.

Associated Press is reporting on Sun releasing Java under the GPL. Sun is hoping that this step will attract more developers, as well as extend the lifespan of Java. The article notes that this is 'one of the largest additions of computer code to the open-source community'.

Hell no! Ofcourse I don't like soccer. I mean - its one hell of a boring, stupid sport .. but looking at this little traffic pic from AMS-IX makes me reconsider my opinion .. (guess when the FIFA WorldCup soccer game started :-)

If you thought XCP "rootkit" copy-protection on Sony-BMG CDs was bad, perhaps you'd better read the 3,000 word (!) end-user license agreement (aka "EULA") that comes with all these CDs. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has the whole scoop.
The final issue of Phrack has been released. From the introduction: 'For 20 years PHRACK magazine has been the most technical, most original, the most Hacker magazine in the world. The last five of those years have been under the guidance of the current editorial team. Over that time, many new techniques, new bugs and new attacks have been published in PHRACK. We enojoyed every single moment working on the magazine.' Despite earlier reports to the contrary, though, this is NOT to be the end of Phrack.
The theregister.co.uk reports: "The European Parliament has voted by a massive majority to reject the software patents directive, formally known as the Directive on the Patentability of Computer Implemented Inventions. The vote to scrap the bill was passed by a margin of 648 votes to 14, with 18 abstentions." [read full article]
